I am visiting Queenstown, what sessions can I attend and do I need to register in advance?

All of our sessions are available on the "Venue & Session Information" tab, any sessions marked "Open" are available to both members and visitors of all abilities. For these sessions, there is currently no registration required. You can turn up on the day, at the specified time and one of our helpers will have a sign-in sheet available for you. Please note that all visitors will be charged a fee of $10NZD per session plus transaction fees. Payment is available through our payment gateway only (no cash) and a printed QR code link will be available at each session. Payment must be made upon arrival and before you commence playing.

Do I need to bring any equipment?

All equipment you will need, will be provided at each session. We have a number of paddles available for use, along with balls and nets.

How did pickleball come about?

Pickleball was created in Washington by a group of friends looking to come up with a new game to entertain their children. The game they ended up with - the first to resemble the pickleball we know - was played in 1965 on a badminton court using table tennis paddles and a wiffle ball.

Do I have to become a member of the club?

No, there is no obligation to join the club. If you are a local your first session is free. For all sessions after that it is $10.00 per session.

Do I have to be good at racket sports to play pickleball?

No, pickleball is a great game that suits a variety of ages and fitness levels - don't be shy come give it a go!

What does membership cover?

Your membership fee contributes to but not limited to the following:

  • Club’s operating costs such as annual filing, to maintain our incorporated society status, accounting and membership management software

  • Equipment for use at club hire venues 

  • Venues and associated costs

  • Club events, some of which are free

  • Maintaining the website, mobile app and promotional material

What is the age limit?

We have players from high school age to several in their 70's and 80's.

What do I wear?

Sportswear. It is a vigorous sport. Court shoes are a must and to protect your eyes, consider safety glasses or polycarbonate lenses.
